Longway Factory is a multimedia production house founded by imagemaker, designer and director Claudio Maria Lerario.

The factory is organized as a co-operative society of multimedia workers. Since the founding of Longway Factory, in 1986, Claudio Maria Lerario and his team of creative artists, videomakers, producers, writers, journalists have developed hundreds of editorial projects that include documentaries, videos, books, posters, publications and exhibitions.

With a particular focus on matters concerning travel and ethnology Longway Factory has collaborated with many outstanding international museums, publishers and cultural institutions on a variety of subjects including the arts, geography, history, music, natural history, social issues, science and technology.

Each project is the result of a collaborative process and multy-disciplinary capabilities that include research, editorial development, photography, videomaking, illustration, writing, design, testing, maintenance and publicity.

Longway Factory’s drive for accuracy, attention to detail and capability to master both traditional and digital tool with a strong adherence to industry standards, have produced two decades of innovative and enduring projects.

This work allows me to flight to different places and to catch their people’s spirits, their cultures, their present and past events and to find that harmony created by the human beings in their major or minor stories.

Their thoughts, their gestures, their ideas, successes and failures. Everything that may contain the Seed of Beauty. Everything that may strike our intelligence, giving us the feeling to belong to our time and to all times of human story and history.

Is it all Beauty? May be, but only if kept at distance from clichés. I believe every single situation bears the Seed of Beauty. Just learn to spot it in nature, in exotic places or simply round the corner and – most of all – inside the relations between people. Just reveal it and you’ll see ancient hopes being refuilled, nourished new visions.

To find that seed, that’s my job. For myself, for my children and for all those who believe in the likelihood that in the actions and stories that cross our lives may harbour all the kaos and the harmony of the world.
